The genre-bending concert violinist, composer and educator returns to the Winchfield Festival for a special, one-off concert in July 2025.
Just over 150 years ago, Modeste Mussorgsky composed Pictures at an Exhibition in honour of his friend, the artist Viktor Hartmann. Tim Kliphuis and his Trio present a brand new Pictures at an Exhibition that showcases the daring innovations of Mussorgsky’s music in one mesmerising 45-minute performance, and adds four Tim Kliphuis originals based on works by Van Gogh, Klimt, O’Keeffe and Hokusai.
In the second half the trio will play a selection of pre-war Django Reinhardt Gypsy Jazz hits and American Song Book classics.
During its 18-year career, the Tim Kliphuis Trio (Tim Kliphuis violin; Nigel Clark,Guitar; Roy Percy, Double Bass) has gone from strength to strength. Recent highlights were a Royal state visit to Sweden and collaborations with the Netherlands and Tallin Chamber Orchestras and Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra. Of the two Sony albums Reflecting the Seasons and Brandenburg, their innovative new version of Vivaldi’s masterpiece hit the number one spot on the i-Tunes charts.
Grabbing the consumer’s attention isn’t enough; you have to keep that attention for at least a few seconds.
